Data sources and verification states
Read owner roles, email association, website checks and capture times accurately. Each evidence field answers a specific question; no one label verifies every part of a lead.

Listing data versus website evidence
Business names, categories, addresses, ratings and review totals originate in the returned Maps listing. Public contact details and supported people are extracted from inspected business-site pages. Source URLs and capture times help you revisit those observations. The crawler inspects up to five reachable public HTML pages; JavaScript-only components and unvisited pages can be missed.
State dictionary
| State or field | Meaning | Does not establish |
|---|---|---|
| website_status=verified in Maps mode | A name, address or phone rule associated inspected content with the listing | Email delivery, legal ownership, universal website accuracy |
| verified in unnamed domain upload | Site passed readability/domain checks | Correspondence to an unrelated company name |
| needs_review | Website/contact association is uncertain | Permission to treat its contacts as confirmed |
| confirmed contact | Published contact associated with this business website | Control by its owner or mailbox delivery |
| owner_confirmed email | Email published in the supported person's record | That person's current legal ownership or delivery |
| owner_title | Published owner/founder/president role | All roles mean current owner |
| phone estimatedType / verifiedType | Static estimate / optional current line lookup | A person will answer |
Evidence fields
Both Maps and domain business result objects keep ownerName, ownerTitle, ownerQuote, ownerSourceUrl and ownerCapturedAt. Maps full CSV uses owner_evidence; domain full CSV uses owner_quote. Both export owner_source_url and owner_captured_at. Domain email_category is the selected contact-path label, while email_association_status is its association state.
Maps full CSV holds multiple emails and matching sources/times in semicolon-separated columns. Domain full CSV holds the preferred email/phone and retains contacts_to_review separately. See the Maps field table and the domain field table.
Public email does not mean deliverable email
An address found on a website can be outdated, a general mailbox or a personal-looking address with no person association. OwnerClue does not currently run mailbox-delivery validation. When needed, export the email column for independent verification and preserve its separate status/provider/time fields.
A founder does not necessarily mean current owner
A historical announcement can support a founder role while saying nothing about present ownership. Preserve that role, wording and date. If the source only names a manager, do not promote the manager to owner. If no relevant evidence is present, leave owner fields blank. Public source examples show all three situations.
Review and freshness
Open the original page, confirm person and business context, check role and time, and resolve uncertain website matches before using contacts. A capture timestamp tells you when an observation was made, not that it remains current. See data-quality review.
